Your consultation — what does it involve?

Sarah offers personal consultations on a one-to-one basis. In certain circumstances group consultations however may be available.

Before your first appointment you will be asked to complete a detailed health, nutrition and lifestyle questionnaire. The information that you provide allows Sarah to prepare for your consultation in advance, maximising the time available in the actual consultation for issues of concern.

Occasionally the information that you provide may mean that you are asked to seek medical advice to investigate any potential underlying disease prior to attending the consultation.

At the initial consultation, which typically lasts 60 minutes, a detailed picture of your life story will be taken. This will include your health and family history, current health concerns, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, as well as stress levels, psychological and emotional factors and dietary, exercise and lifestyle habits.

When it is appropriate, functional tests may be recommended. The results of these tests facilitate the development of a targeted and individualised nutritional programme which are invaluable tools for monitoring progress through the programme.

What do you receive?

You will then be provided with:

An explanation of dietary and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to any symptoms and a personalised dietary and lifestyle programme designed to meet your individual requirements.

Dietary supplements may be recommended, when necessary or potentially beneficial to boost the nutritional programme, based on both scientific evidence and your specific needs or, in some cases, following analysis of any functional test results. If a client is on medication, a check will be made for any potential drug-nutrient interactions.

How many consultations will you need?

This depends upon your individual circumstances, although clients will always be seen for an initial and a follow-up consultation. Follow-up consultations last 45 minutes, in which time the client’s progress will be assessed and their nutritional and supplement programme adjusted to take account of their progress and any remaining concerns. Clients with more complex issues may request further appointments to meet their nutritional health goals.
